The December 1st, benefit raffle for a 3 day / 4 night fishing and lodging package to support Karina and the Sitka High School (SHS) Symphonic Band trip was a wonderful success. The lucky winner was ticket number 153, belonging to Mr. Hoang Tran. Congratulations Mr. Tran!
We would like to express a grateful thank you to each and every one of you who purchased raffle tickets and a special Thank You to the Sitka Emblem Club #142 for their assistance! With all of your support, we were able to raise $20,000 for this talented group to be able to travel to Bellevue, Washington in February and perform at the National Association for Music Education Conference (NAfME).
The SHS Symphonic Band was only one of five high school bands chosen to perform from the Pacific Northwest, and the only band chosen from Alaska! This conference offers a huge educational opportunity for our high school students. This music event is only available once every two years.
For those of you who missed out on participating in this raffle, or would like to be involved in a new raffle; we would like to raise funds to benefit the Alaska Charter Association (ACA). All funds raised would allow the ACA to adequately represent recreational anglers by sending representatives to all regulatory meetings affecting the sportfishing industry to fight for your rights. The ACA mission is “to preserve and protect the rights of recreational anglers and to serve as the voice of the marine charter industry on local, state, federal, and international issues affecting the sportfishing industry”. We need your support! (For more information on the ACA, go to Alaskacharter.org)
The next benefit raffle would begin in Mid-January of 2017 and the drawing would be held on March 12th, which is the start of daylight savings time. Keep a watch for our announcement when we finalize the details of this awesome opportunity.
